Joe and Cory!! weren’t able to match schedule this week, so instead we have a special episode for you: Solitaire Rose Series in Review is where Cory!! gives DVD style commentary to an older comics series. This time it is The Eternal by Jack Kirby from 1976. Cory!! breaks down the first 3 issues, going into the genesis of the series and puts it in a historical context not just in comics, but in larger history and pop culture.
Sadly, no Joe, but as a bonus, no Dad joke from Joe to close the show. So you’ve got that going for you, which is nice.
Mike Baron has been a comic book writer, novelist, an Eisner winner, an Inkpot winner, and a previous guest here on the old podcast, and he and Cory sat down to chat about what he’s been up to. We talk about moving from comics to novels, self-publishing, writing classes, and his new kickstarter that will move his comic character The Badger to the world of novels. The Badger is the story of a man with multiple personality disorder, one of which is a costumed crime fighter, and his partner, Ham, a 6th Century druid.
Action and hilarity ensue.

Cory!! welcomes Tom Peyer and Stuart Moore from Ahoy comics! They talk about their new company, Ahoy, and their books The Wrong Earth and Captain Ginger.
The books they discuss are:
The Wrong Earth, a six-issue mini-series by Tom Peyer and artist Jamal Igle. The book’s lead story will tell the story of what happens when two alternate earth versions of a character named Dragonflyman (one a brutal anti-hero and another an adventurer) switch places.
Captain Ginger a space opera set on a starship that is staffed by cats who behave like cats. They’re human cats who really act like cats, written by Stuart Moore and drawn by June Brigman.
They discuss the idea of starting a new company, what Ahoy does differently, and what it’s like moving from the editorial chair to the creative chair. It’s a great discussion with two long-time comics pros!
