The long awaited, long promised first part of the Solitaire Rose History of Jack Kirby covering from his birth in 1917 to when he was drafted in 1943.  Jack Kirby is called the King of Comics, but why is that?  Why is Kirby so important and such a revered figure in comics?

This is the first of a multi-part series that goes into Jack Kirby’s life and career, the impact he made on comics and culture in general and why he is The King.
